Client: Kennedy Wilson
Location: Clancy Quay, Dublin, Ireland
Project Description: Custom external wayfinding signage

Overview: Clancy Quay integrates historical charm with modern living, demanding sensitive, innovative wayfinding signage. Our team developed, produced, and installed signage that harmonises with the site’s historical architecture while ensuring clear navigation.

Objectives:

  • Consistency and Local Relevance: Align signage with brand standards and the local historical setting.
  • Innovation and Sustainability: Employ advanced, sustainable materials in signage development.
  • Cultural Integration: Blend new signage with the site’s historical and cultural elements.

Challenges and Solutions:

  • Historical Sensitivity: Utilised Vero Metal paint to mimic aged metals, matching the Victorian architecture.
  • Design Consistency: Used Cló Gaelach typeface for street signs to maintain local style, with building signs also featuring Vero Metal for uniformity.
  • Material Innovation: Chose Vero Metal for its aesthetic appeal, durability, and environmental benefits.

Impact: The wayfinding signage enhanced usability and aesthetics, contributing to the project’s success and recognition, including winning the 2022 ULI/CBRE Placemaking Award for both Dublin and national categories.

Conclusion: The Clancy Quay project demonstrates successful integration of historical sensitivity with modern design needs, setting a standard for future developments.
